Unlike Alerts and Audit Trail entries, Journal entries are kept indefinitely (until manually deleted by an administrator or Purged with old data). Each entry is tagged with the date and time, as well as the operator who made the entry. If an entry is made for a specific record, e.g. a Reservation, then it can be viewed only through that record, e.g. Reservation Details.
You'll also find a "Journal" button at the bottom of Reservation Details, Customer Details, Site Details, Vendor Details, and the Edit Inventory Item dialogs. The Journal button will take you to a list of any existing entries for that particular record. This is also where you would view the details or edit an existing entry.
Journal entries for the main system are viewed through the main menu's View / Journal Entries command. This shows a list as above, but only for "main" journal entries not tied to a particular record.
Note that when a Journal entry is added, it also goes in the Audit Trail. If you need to browse Journal entries for all records, you can do it through the Audit Trail functions.
